The Institute of Mechanical Intelligence of the Sant'Anna School is the leading actor in one of the events anticipating the Festival of Robotics, which takes place in Pisa from Friday, May 24, to Saturday, May 26: the Institute of Mechanical Intelligence is organizing in Florence the conference "Art in the Metaverse," which on Friday, May 17, allows Italian artists and technologists to present the results of recent artistic approaches in such an innovative field as the Metaverse, that is, the virtual world that can be accessed thanks to special virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. The event is being held at Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati, headquarters of the Region of Tuscany, in Florence, where - in a parallel way to the conference on Friday, May 17, an exhibition opens concerning video installations on the most recent digital works created in the Metaverse is planned.

The conference is among the events organized as previews of the Festival of Robotics in Florence, Livorno or in the weeks following the "three days" of Pisa (in Viareggio) and opens at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 17, at Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati, in Florence, with free admission, to present the first technological and artistic attempts in the Metaverse, with particular regard to the components of virtual environments and artificial intelligence. Also at the focus of the conference on Friday, May 17, will be a discussion on productions and performances in the artistic sphere involving the constituent components of the Metaverse.

Participating in the proceedings will be Mauro Ferrari, president of the Tech Care Foundation and scientific director of the Robotics Festival; Massimo Bergamasco, full professor of Applied Mechanics of Machines at the Institute of Mechanical Intelligence of the Sant'Anna School and organizer of the conference "Art in the Metaverse"; and Simone Arcagni, scholar and popularizer of new media and new technologies and lecturer at the University of Palermo; Federica Patti, art historian and expert in digital performance and performance practices; Kamilia Kard, artist, lecturer and expert in hyperconnectivity and new forms of online communication; Lucia Franchi, playwright and founder of the CapoTrave company; Martin Romeo, visual artist and expert in the relationship between nature, technology and the body through different media; Anna Maria Monteverdi, expert in Digital Performance and lecturer at the University of Milan; and Margherita Landi, choreographer, performer and media artist.
